LYRICS & MEANINGS
REAL LIFE
I hear a car door slamming,
I hear the bullets go banging,
I hear the screams and the cries of the innocent bystanders
I hear the cops come running in where the madman's gunning
He says "Yo, man, I ain't got no bread"
But he signed on yesterday, he said
This is a real life,
This is a real life,
This is a real life now baby
This is a real life
Would you take a walk with me,
Could you take a trip with me?
I'll show you things that you've never seen
I'll take you places that you've never seen - because
This is a real life,
Life is what you make it,
If it's happy or sad,
good or bad,
If you shoot your load or fake it, I said,
This is a real life,
This is a real life,
This is a real life now baby
This is a real life
As I walked those deserted streets
I saw a poor boy stood by the side of the road
With his hand stretched out in front of him
He said "Man can you spare me a buck or a yen?"
I felt so guilty 'cause my stomach was full
Felt so guilty 'cause my wallet was full
He said he'd not eaten for a day
This is a real life,
This is a real life,
This is a real life now baby
This is a real life
This is a real life,
Life is what your living here
Pretty baby, pretty baby,
This is a real life.
" This was the song that the new Claytown started with, I remember writing
the keyboard riff & the words followed, I had seen a TV documentary about
how drugs & violence would become like America within 10 years & although
I'd grown up with those two elements shaping my life & in small doses they
have their place, it still saddens me to see poverty & desperation in this
country which is blamed on these things, I've know as many working class
people get caught up in the destructive side as I have upper class. We may
well have become the 50something state of America, but unfortunately, the
good side has it's bad side, but hopefully the next generation might level
the playing field, I know mine hasn't, the BMW is still prized above all
achievements in life "
